Tips for renting a car in Israel
- Tamir-Car Rental Israel makes sure you receive your car clean and ready to go. When you receive your car, take a few minutes to notice any scratches or bumps. Check if the air-conditioner, radio, CD player works and all the Car Rental Accessories. Prevent any inconvenience during your stay in Israel; if you find any damage, call Tamir and let us know.
- Car Reservation: During the summer and holydays, it is recommended that you book your car in advance, even as much as a few months ahead. These times are very busy and it does happen that we may have no cars in stock
- It's recommended to rent a car on a weekly base and not on a daily one. Weekly rates usually are cheaper, and in most of the cases, renting a car for a week turns out cheaper then renting a car for five days. There is a monthly rate as well, should that suit your needs.
- Before arriving in Israel, check the validity of your driving license.
- If you are a group of mixed nationalities including Israelis, check if one of the tourists in the group does not have an Israeli passport, and if so, rent the car in his name. That way you can save the extra 15.5% of VAT tax which is added to an Israeli rental of a car in Israel.
- It's important to check in advance what the insurance covers, and your maximum financial liability for damage to the car in case of an accident
- If one is Driving in Israel with children, be aware that in Israel there are laws regarding the ages at which they must be seated in a child safety device. If you should need one, make sure to order it in advance.

- It is recommended to be on time when returning the car. Any delay will make you liable to pay for an extra twenty-four hour rental period.
- If you are delayed upon your arrival at Ben-Gurion airport, don’t worry. Tamir constantly checks times of landings and take-offs to make sure that you receives your car when you arrive, whenever that might be.
- About the car’s trunk size: We all love to pack as much as we can and rent the smallest car to save money. When renting, we advice you to choose a car with 5 doors rather than one with 4. Cars with 5 doors have more space in their trunk.
- Navigation system (GPS). The GPS is easy to use and saves time and worry. It can be rented with your car.
